FAQS

WHAT IS HAND-POKE?

  • Hand-poke is a slower, self-powered form of tattooing.

  • The process involves manually poking dots of ink into skin to create an image.

  • It is often a gentler procedure that generates less trauma to the skin, leading to a softer and faster healing process.

  • Hand-pokes show more of the “human hand.”

DOES IT HURT?

  • Pain is relative.

  • Placement, pain tolerance, and design can create variation in any tattoo experience.

  • Many clients, including myself, have experienced a low level of pain with hand-pokes.

  • The process is often described as meditative or grounding, with much less physical and auditory stimulation than a machine.

CUSTOMS

  • Yes, if the idea works with my interests and style! Please reference my flash page for examples.

  • For Customs please provide detailed descriptions, references of my work you like as well as any other necessary visual information. We will discuss these things more over email before a booking request is accepted.

  • To submit a Custom request please click the “book a tattoo” link at the bottom of the page.

  • I also offer 1 or 2 Redraws of “claimed” works since I only tattoo each original design once. This is a reconstruction of my own image, any additional changes will be considered as a custom.

PRICING

Rates:

  • I offer sliding scale hourly rates.

  • $130- $180 / hour (for tattooing time).

  • A $75 (non-refundable) deposit confirms your appointment and goes towards the final cost of the tattoo.

  • Customs require a $50 drawing fee and Redraws require $25 drawing fee that DO NOT go toward the final cost of the tattoo. This covers time spent for consultation, drawing, edits outside of our appointment and are non-refundable.

  • Tattoos typically take 1-3 hours to complete.

  • I build my appointment blocks in 3-4 hour increments. This allows time for consultation, stenciling, tattooing, breaks, photos, and aftercare.

  • To submit a flash request please click the “book a tattoo” link at the top of the flash page.

RESCHEDULES & CANCELLATIONS

  • If you need to reschedule please let me know as soon as possible!

  • Rescheduling your appointment does not require a new deposit unless you do so within 6 days before your scheduled appointment.

  • Cancellations without discussion of a reschedule will result in a forfeit of your deposit.

PAYMENT

  • CASH is most always preferred!

  • I also offer card payments through Square. There is a 4% transaction fee that is applied to your final cost if you choose to pay with card. This is used to cover the transaction fee on square.

Tipping

WHAT INKS DO YOU OFFER?

  • I most often work in Greyscale or in Blue.

  • Grey-wash: I use a set by dynamic inks set in a variety of percentages, as well as black. The grey wash allows me to offer softer shaded images that heal with soft transitions and better accuracy to the original graphite drawing.

Blue: For this work I am often using 3 to 4 shades of blue ranging from a dark deep blue to light blue! I can also offer 1 or 2 tones in washes for a different look / heal.
